How to Repair & Treat Your Skin After the Summer Season

The summer season brings a lot of joy. People are outdoors more, exploring nature, seeing family, friends and just enjoying warmer weather. It’s all good and fun until we notice how much our skin can be damaged during these months. Even if you wear your SPF every day, keep up with your skincare regimen, cover up, wear hats and anything else you may do to protect your skin, you can’t fully avoid the damage.
The good news? You can start repairing the damage from the summer season now instead of waiting. The better news? It’s not that difficult and doesn’t take more time out of your day than your skincare regimen already does.
Now let’s dive into the important products you need to look for when it comes to repairing the skin after the summertime.
Why? It’s because you want to remove all the impurities and dead skin from your face in order to welcome new, rejuvenated skin cells. By exfoliating regularly at the end of summer (2-3 times per week, or 1-2 times if you have sensitive skin) you’ll be able to shed all the dull, dead, dry skin cells to make your skin look youthful going into the fall season.
Keep wearing your SPF
SPF doesn’t stop after the summer! The sun is out all year, which means continuing to apply your SPF each and every day will ensure that further damage isn’t done to your skin. It’ll also make sure that all the work you’re doing to repair your skin after the summer season is maintained and not reversed.
Though it’s warm all summer long and your skin might feel a bit more oily, that doesn’t mean that your skin is hydrated. In the summer season, your skin still gets dehydrated and needs to be moisturized to get the hydration it desperately needs.
You may have noticed that at the end of summer your skin looks a bit uneven, and that’s from sun exposure and the other environmental stressors your skin has faced during the season. To give your skin a more even complexion, you’re going to want to focus on brightening, exfoliating, and using a toner that works to even out your skin. There’s also some treatment products that help with this that are a fantastic addition to your routine, especially while repairing it from the summer season.
Did you think we forgot about your neck and eye area? We never do!
Unfortunately, during the summer season these areas (especially your neck) can get neglected and when it comes time to repair, it’s hard to find products that work effectively to restore these difficult areas. Focusing on hydration, improving elasticity, firmness and reducing the look of dark circles and other pigmentation from the summer season in these sensitive areas is key to repairing.
