Winter: What It Means For Your Skincare Routine

Winter, the season we always dread for more than just how cold it can get. We’re outside less, and our skin is prone to dryness along with a number of other skin issues during the season. There’s a lot of things about winter we can’t control, but there is one thing we can; our skincare routine.

Our skincare routine in the winter season gets our skin through the cold weather and other damage done. It also preps our skin for spring and helps it recover from the fall, because everything comes full circle.

So, what exactly does your skin face during the winter season? And, how do you know which products to use?

You’ve come to the right place. Let’s chat about winter and your skin…

Dry Skin

We’ll start with the obvious, with cooler weather comes more dry skin. Though your skin does dry out in all other seasons too, it’s much more obvious in the winter. The difference between winter and all other seasons is humidity.

Humidity is much lower both outdoors and indoors, making the water content in your skin drop. Luckily there’s a great way to quench your skin to ensure it stays hydrated.

Outside of using a good moisturizer (which we’ll get into later) it’s great to have a good face oil and serum on hand with the right ingredients. These products dig deep and moisturize the skin, but you want to make sure you’re getting the right products.

For example, our Cellular Rejuvenating Concentrate doesn’t just hydrate the top layer of skin. The serum digs deep to a cellular level to ensure that hydration lasts longer and if more effective. Or, you can try out our Hydrating Essence Beauty Oil that can be used on your face, body or hair which also focuses on deep hydration.

Be Gentle

We all love a good exfoliator, and in the winter ridding of that dead and dry skin is essential. However, your skin is more sensitive during the season which means an exfoliator that’s gentle is even more important.

Many exfoliators on the market are harsh on the skin, and you want to make sure you’re not damaging skin during your routine. Exfoliators like our Cell Renewing Microfoliant does the trick as it is incredibly gentle and visibly detoxifies pores and brightens skin.

Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about your lips! No matter what season, you always want to use a gentle exfoliator instead of a scrub. That’s why customers have the Perfect Pout Lip Mask as a staple in their routine.

Layer Your Routine

In the winter, you shouldn’t just be layering your clothing to stay warm, it’s all about layering your skincare routine as well. Your skin needs some more love during this season, but it doesn’t mean making your skincare routine more complicated.

It’s all about the ingredients, and layering those properly into your regimen.

That’s why we designed the Daily Regimen. It’s the ideal routine for anytime of the year and is gentle enough for the winter season. By using this as your base and adding in a product like the Firming Mask, or the Diamond Contour Supercharged 1-Minute Daily Facial to your routine for winter you’re still keeping things simple.

Hydrate & Avoid Aggravation

We know the importance of hydrating our skin and how we need to be conscious about what we use and how we hydrate our faces. So, let’s talk moisturizers.

By using a heavier moisturizer, you’re able to deeply hydrate skin and one of the most important times to do this is at night.

When you’re sleeping, your skin works to repair and rejuvenate to ensure it stays healthy. So, using a heavy moisturizer in the winter like the Night Replenishment Concentrate will allow for enhanced skin repair overnight.

Another product great to have on hand in winter (but also year round) is the Intensive Eye Concentrate. This gentle eye serum focuses on hydrating that sensitive skin area while fighting signs of aging.

UV Rays Don’t Go Into Hiding

We can’t say it enough. Summer isn’t the only season to focus on battling those UV Rays! In the winter, they’re still around and while you’re inside, they can still get to your skin. That’s why, especially in your morning routine, you’ll want to make sure you’re protecting your skin.

Using the Daily Moisture SPF 30 Concentrate combines 2 steps into 1 to keep your routine simpler by hydrating and protecting at the same time. Combine this with using the Perfect Pout Lip Balm, which also holds SPF 30, you can feel more comfortable through the winter season that your lips are protected and hydrated too.
