Self care is a term that, no matter your age, you’ve probably been hearing a lot about. And it’s for a good reason! For a long time our mental health, and overall wellbeing has not been taken care of like it is nowadays. Self care is a form of self love that now is something seen as an essential focus that can help us conquer our greatest stresses in life.
Ensuring that you make time for yourself, focus on relaxing, a positive mindset routine and more can help you in a number of ways. From less stress, to healthier habits, an increased positive outlook and more it’s important to practice self care each and every day.
Sure, self care may just sound like an overused term, but science actually does show that it has positive benefits.
First off it allows you to be kinder to yourself. By practicing self care and manifesting positive energy you’re training your mind to love yourself and who you are more than you know. On top of this, it also lets you restore your energy (kind of like how our skin renews and repairs overnight!) which is essential each and every day.
There’s many more benefits associated with self care, but those are two that are important to remember and focus on. However, we all need to remember that self care does look different for everyone. If one person finds mindful breathing essential, another may see cooking dinner each night just as important.
Not sure where to start? Here’s a few starter ideas…
Self care and where to start can truly feel overwhelming. That’s why, starting with a few small, common ways that people begin changing their habits can help. Here’s three ways you can get started:
Having a skincare routine that you follow daily allows you to force yourself to have time to yourself. Plus, you’re giving your skin the nutrients it needs! Psst. We’ll dive a bit more into this into the next section.
You don’t have to be bench pressing or running on the treadmill for an hour for this one. Your daily activity could be a 20 minute walk, a quick yoga session or even cleaning your home with quick jumping jacks in between! Activity is activity, and when you think of it like that it all becomes a little less overwhelming.
You may have heard of journaling and how that can help give you a more positive mindset. And it’s true! Try waking up in the morning a couple days in a row and writing down what you love in your life and what makes you happy, followed by what you’re manifesting that day. You may have heard of the Five Minute Journal, it’s very similar to that and it can help you change your mindset.
Let’s jump back into skincare (because really, that’s what we do!). There’s many reasons why skincare is such an important aspect of self care. Like we mentioned before, it obviously helps your skin stay healthy and fights anti-aging but it also does a lot more than that.
When you’re washing your face or applying something like our Diamond Contour® Collagen Boosting Hydration Créme you’re giving your face a massage. And it feels good! By doing this, you’re increasing blood flow and relaxing your body. Additionally, the Diamond Contour® Lifting Rose Quartz Neck Serum massages your neck while rejuvenating it. Massaging this area is something you’ll find feels better than you would have thought, as most of us don’t normally focus on this area of their body in terms of self care and skincare.
While you’re massaging these products in, they also have scents that can be naturally calming. For example, Dr. Kaplan’s Diamond Contour® Supercharged 1-Minute Daily Facial has just this. Not only are you giving yourself a desirable mini-facial at home, the scent that accompanies it is so soothing - won’t want to stop taking deep breaths.
Keeping up with glowing skin and these daily habits will make you feel more confident in yourself both inside and out. So, grab that Perfect Pout Lip Balm, take a minute to do some skincare self care and let’s make some positive changes together in 2022!
