As we move from winter to spring, we notice that many people are talking about how to transition our routine between the seasons but never why we should be switching our skincare routine with each season. Today we’re breaking down how the shift in seasons affects our skin, and why you need to update your routine to keep your skin healthy all year long.
Seasonal changes mean fluctuating temperatures, humidity, wind and sun exposure, and your skin needs to find a way to respond and adapt to all of these changing environmental forces.
Have you noticed that your skin tends to become dryer in the cooler months and oiler in the warmer months? This is because the change in temperature and humidity disrupts your skin’s balance and causes the skin barrier to change.
Each season brings new environmental stressors that our skin faces, which is why it's a must to ensure that the needs of your skin are met based on the season.
For a lot of us, wintertime means more time indoors shielding our skin from the elements, but in the spring we find ourselves enjoying the extra hour of sunlight and spending more time outdoors.
This additional time outside increases our exposure to harmful UV rays. While we advocate for wearing SPF all year round, it’s even more important to layer on your favorite SPF moisturizerin the spring to protect your skin from premature aging and developing skin cancers.
While your face may be the obvious place you need to be piling on the sun protection, don’t forget that the delicate skin on your lips needs protection too! By reducing sun damage, you can prevent dry lips, as well as more serious concerns.
Whether you’re laying out in the sun (always use SPF!) or enjoying the weather with an outdoor workout, our skin will sweat more during this warmer season.
Sweat that has been sitting on your skin for a prolonged period of time can clog pores and cause breakouts and irritation. Be sure to always wash your skin after a workout or sweat sesh to help maintain it’s healthy glow! You can also use products like our Clarifying Toner, which contains Witch Hazel and Salicylic Acid to help fight post perspiration breakouts.
For starters, our Diamond Contour Supercharged 1-Minute Daily Facial should be your go-to. It gently exfoliates to release all those environmental stressors from your skin while working to smooth wrinkles.
The Diamond Contour Collagen Boosting Hydration Créme is also a must-have for the spring season. Using this will help replenish, hydrate and revive your skin from the harmful UV rays.
Another one to add to your springtime routine is our Diamond Contour Ultimate Hydration Firming Eye Serum. Why? Because it works to improve elasticity and firmness which is what UV threaten to hurt when we're outside in the springtime more often.
